Write for FIGHTSCOPE A scientific approach to knocking someone out with a punch.
This video is property of National Geographic.
The N.G. use a scientific dummy to record data to find out exactly what happens when a person gets punched and suffers a knock-out.
When a heavy punch lands on someone's head, it sends the brain sliding inside the skull. This causes a chain reaction and causes the skull to accelerate and decelerate rapidly whilst the brain is still sliding.
When the brain slides against the back of the skull, it causes trauma to the rear. It then slides to the front of the skull which causes trauma at the front. This causesalmost instant trauma at both sides of the brain. This results in what they call an "electric storm", which basically 'short circuits' your nervous system.
Doctors call this a severe concussion - we call it a knock-out!
